Drink & Draw Episode 12: Ride the Tiger of Flame!

Time:
Thursday, March 10th, 8:00pm

Location:
Boston Beer Works
61 Brookline Avenue,
Opposite Fenway Park
Boston, MA

Here we go again, kids. New year, first Drink & Draw. With the way the weather's been I figured it'd be best to wait until the worst had passed. But it seems like clear skies, so we are back to it! And what better way to represent all of what I just said then with a small albino and his flaming tiger, curtesy of the lovely, talented, and strangely arousing Ms. Sara King! So ya'll know the drill, let's get out there an rock!
As it's a new year, I would like to encourage you all to bring one person with you, even if it's violently against their will. Let's spread our gospel!

By the way, this event art has a history for those who don't know. Check it out;

I encourage everyone to come dressed in some way, celebrating the wonder that is Kevin and Hops!

Drink and Draw Boston Episode 10: The First Anniversary!

Saturday, September 25 at 12:00pm - September 26 at 12:00am

Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University
700 Beacon Street
Boston, MA

Ladies, and more manly ladies, believe it or not but Drink and Draw Boston is now a year old! Ironically, it's still not old enough to drink...
Though it's not technically a year to the day (the real anniversary is sometime in the end of August, I can't remember) but I wanted to make this a special meeting. Luckily, MICE is being held at AIB!
So here's the plan, kiddies. We meet, at noon, at AIB to enjoy the Massachusetts In...dependent Comic Expo. Show up any time between noon and 6 pm. When the Expo closes at 6, we will take to the streets of the city, in search of booze and food. Being a Saturday, we won't be able to call ahead anywhere like usual, but if we show up as a group we could wrangle something, somewhere, so if you can't make it to the Expo, try to be in Kenmore by 6.
It's been a crazy year getting this thing going, and I hope to see you all there on Saturday, to celebrate what we've made!

Special thanks to Bob Laing for this meetings artwork! He still confused about this group, though...

Ok, Now The Important Stuff...

To keep the previous post fancy-free, I kept it light on the words. But there are important news bits.

Firstly there are two great projects being put together. Firstly is Flim Fest 2010! For those who don't know, Flim Fest is a festival that has been running in Massachusetts for seven years now, run by our own Joe Botsch, and Kevin James (who really needs to stop by a Drink & Draw meeting). The festival is happening August 21st and 22nd, and the boys need animations so badly. So send them whatever you got, old or new, sometime before August 7th. And if you don't have anything (or you're too shy) come out and party at the festival anyway. Click the banner for more...

Secondly, a good friend of mine, Matt Keene, is putting together a block of programming for local cable access in Norton and Waltham, called the Animation Hour! This will be an ongoing project, but he needs good films to get off on the right foot. Send him anything you have, now's your chance to see your work on the small screen in a big way! Contact him at matthewk1@comcast.net

And lastly, but still important, are several Drink & Draw bits. Firstly (again) the up coming Drink & Draw Art Show needs work. This showing will not only be used to get attention for the group (means better networking!) but also will be used to help raise funds for upcoming events, including the Cook Cormack Colossal Cinema Collection! So Get your best pieces! It could be something left over from your senior year (oh, so long ago) or something you drew the other night at 4 am (to escape the encroaching loneliness...), get it all and send it to ME! (you all know where to find me).

Secondly (and lastly) the latest Drink & Draw contest is still ongoing! While your here take time to notice how drab and dull the blog page is. Wouldn't you like to spruce it up? WELL NOW YOU CAN! Come up with a design, a layout, or even a vague concept and submit it to ME! We will all vote on the best one and the winner get's there design used! (I'll even put it up so you can just relax and bask in the glow of victory). So get those designs and ideas to ME!

Peace out homies!

Drink & Draw 8: Mission Accomplished!

So yea... Drink & Draw 8. What can be said? It went swimmingly; not only fun, but great and prompt turn out! We're getting better at this people! Anyway, pictures...

Drink & Draw Episode 7 - The Aftermath...

So Drink & Draw Boston's 7th meeting was awesome! Though, there were concerns over the simultaneous broadcasting of the Celtics game, which makes any Boston bar a dangerous place, they were quelled when we found ourselves with our own room (with three wide screens showing the game, much to the love of our more sporty members)! And so a big thanks to the kind folks at the Sunset Bar and Tap (not to be confused with the Sunset Cantina). The prices weren't all too gentle, but the comfortable atmosphere, and very helpful staff more than made up for it. Definitely going on the Drink & Draw Boston list of approved locations! Anyway, on the the pictures!!!
